Upon seeing her comprehensive constellation network, with alumni, current, and prospective learners, she notices that some of her profile information overlaps info from learners in different programs and even different schools.
After filtering for her program, she makes a few interesting and unexpected insights:
Sort by: "Alumni", "Close To Completion" or "Just Started" as well as by "Area of Study" to see the constellation change
When she views her program by geo-location on a map, she notices how many people are also in the BSN in her area. Cool! Maybe they could start a local study group!
But then... she realizes that there are so many, even just at Capella! Is there really that much demand for nurses in the Atlanta area to support the coming influx of job applicants?
She does some sample job searches and a little internet research and discovers the nursing market in the south east is going to reach a saturation point in the next few years.
Mary also notices that there are far fewer people in nursing programs in the north west, where her husband’s family lives. This makes her think: They’ve talked about moving to be closer to his family, and he said it would be easier to find a full time IT job there, maybe moving to the northwest would benefit the whole family...
She researches nursing in the north west and finds a more optimistic job outlook there
Mary goes back to her constellation and searches for nursing alumni in the northwest, to find out where they’re working and more on their job responsibilities:reading and watching more advice interviews and selecting a few "guides" to reach out to directly.
Mary feels not only inspired and motivated by her peers’ advice, she feels in control of her degree plan and career, and plans to talk with her husband about moving. Mary is happy she chose Capella for her degree and she envisions returning to the constellation builder throughout her program and even after she graduates. Who knows, maybe it’ll inspire her to pursue her Master’s!
